Kathryn sat across the table from her mother. "Phoebe will be so excited when she sees this."

 

"Mom!"

 

Chakotay reached over and lifted Kathryn's hands to kiss her knuckles. He stared at the ring and grinned at his wife. "Kathryn, your mother is just so happy for you. She hasn't seen you since Voyager arrived, and it's a surprise to have all of this dropped on her."

 

Gretchen grinned a crooked grin that was so Kathryn, there was no question that they were related. "You picked a good one Kathryn, and handsome too." She narrowed her eyes, "Where did you find him. He is absolutely scrumptious."

 

Kathryn rolled her eyes. "I captured him eight years ago. You can thank Owen Paris for the beginning of our relationship and..." She placed her hands on her abdomen, "The final product."

 

Gretchen laughed, "A son-in-law and a grandbaby in the same day."

 

"It appears so mom; and it's a granddaughter."

 

Gretchen squealed, "Can I phone Phoebe, I won't tell her but she needs to see this." She stared at her daughter, "You look happy Katie."

 

"I am mom. I've finally found the light at the end of the tunnel."
